Doug's Journey Doug Halcomb has been in church and/or parachurch ministry since 1991, including time spent as a youth minister, Associate Pastor, Young Life leader, and hockey missionary. Doug was part of the core group that founded Live Oak Community Church and has been involved with the teaching team since Live Oak’s inception. He was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, is a graduate of Texas Tech University, and is working on a Master of Arts in Global Leadership from Fuller Seminary. He has spent the past nine years serving as a hockey missionary with Hockey Ministries International that included him serving as the chaplains for various hockey teams including the Lubbock Cotton Kings, the Allen Americans, and the Dallas Stars. Doug is extremely good at Bocce Ball, believes he is close to solving the JFK assassination, and proves the fact that God can use anyone in ministry! He is a mess and is thankful for God’s grace! Doug transitioned into the role of Senior Pastor in January 2012.
Home Life In A Nutshell Doug is married to Jennifer and they met at Live Oak Community Church in 1994 when Jennifer came to be in a Sunday morning drama.

If I Wasn't In Ministry, I'd Want To Be.... A hockey player…except I can’t skate and have a low tolerance for pain. Maybe I would just be a hockey reporter or commentator.
