Sherry's Journey In December 2000, Sherry joined the Live Oak staff team as the office manager after previously serving on another church staff for almost 20 years in children’s ministries. She and her husband Bobby have been members of Live Oak since November of 1998. They lead a rather large small group on Sunday evenings, which she loves to cook for and host in her home. On any given Sunday morning, you’ll find her hanging out, teaching and playing with her favorite little friends in the Acorn Club. She loves teaching preschoolers about God and His love for them. She has taught preschool “Sunday School” for over 30 years now.
Home Life In A Nutshell She enjoys spending her spare time with her family. She and her husband Bobby have lived in Lubbock since 1977. They have 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren. Gracie and Silas live here with their mom, Heather. Brycen and Kylie live in Florida with their daughter, Hollie and her husband, Greg. They recently traveled to Florida for their son, Heath’s (and Lindsay’s) wedding. Heath is in the Air Force and currently stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Other hobbies and activities that she enjoys are going to the movies, evening walks, gardening, playing with her grandkids, sewing and other “crafty” home decorating projects. She adores any time spent with her grandbabies. She loves being a grandmother (Mimi) to them, hanging out together on the back yard swing, looking for seashells on the beach, discovering Disney World together, walks to the park or just singing a bedtime lullaby to them.
Sherry In Her Own Words:
I'd Rather Be.... Cooking than cleaning, yard work than cleaning, painting than cleaning! I do it… I just don’t enjoy it.
Favorite Book Ever.... I am not much of a reader anymore other than reading to my grandchildren. So my favorite book is whatever book I happen to be reading/sharing with them.
Movie I Never Get Sick Of Watching.... “Where the Heart Is”, otherwise known as the movie about the WalMart baby. I know it’s a really sappy, sweet, and silly movie with a happy ending - otherwise known as a chic flick! But that’s the kind of movie I enjoy (or a really good sci-fi). I also enjoy this particular movie because when it came out, one of the main characters STRONGLY resembled my son, Heath.
If I Wasn't In Ministry, I'd Want To Be.... I’ve been in church ministry of various kinds for over 30 years now. I have been right where I have wanted to be and where God wants me to be – I can’t imagine life any other way!
